Escalator Maintenance Society : July 9
Dallas musicians Jason Roberts and Tim Ruble, best known for their work as the Happy Bullets, will be performing under the moniker, Escalator Maintenance Society at IR Gallery, located at 830 Exposition Avenue, suite 103. The one-night only show is Saturday, July 9 from 8:00-10:00 PM. Admission is free. The gallery is open on Saturdays from 1-5.
Tim Ruble and Jason Roberts collaborate on a wave of smooth but quirky and memorable display of original sound in the side-project Escalator Maintenance Society. It is an experimentation of sounds, melodies, and a variety of instruments that are an offset from the more familiar and poppier songs of the Happy Bullets, of which Jason and Tim are founding members. A limited edition EP of Escalator Maintenance Society will be available for purchase as well as mixed media art works by Tim Ruble.
In February 2003, Jason Roberts and Tim Ruble met while working at an art gallery in Dallas. They started playing/writing music together after realizing they had similar tastes. In the beginning, they were going to release 20 song CD's every 6 months and only send them out to friends. After a couple of the tracks were played on local radio shows, they decided to attempt a band. The band became what’s known as “the Happy Bullets” with five members and a part time cellist. Tim and Jason also enjoy collaborating on more experimental and rarely publicized projects, such as the Escalator Maintenance Society.
IR Gallery is committed to showing work by local prolific artists working in all mediums that need space to communicate. Sarah Jane Semrad curates IR Gallery.
