Cathy Miller on glasstire.org

glasstire.org review:

These paintings stand shoulder to shoulder, covering almost all of the wall space at IR. They are made like posters for a freak show at the turn of the century. They herald a world where all women are lesbians and Miller is the queen. Her subjects include Baby Vulvanaut, a lobster-tailed, bikini-clad woman who wears something on her head that is part space helmet, part fishbowl; and Glow Girl, whose claim to fame speaks for itself. As if the abundance of bikinis was not sufficient, seduction is more explicit with characters such as Pussy Girl, whose tag line warns that she "craves flesh," and the Sirens of Nebulust, twins who stare blankly into the distance. This is not so much a world created as a world promised, with the same mix of snake oil and carnie incantation that still gives freak shows their mystique and allure. - Noah Simblist
